Hello there farmers. The farm is wet and cold today. The feed truck lost its rear bumper today, but they say its fixable. We'll see, but I suspect that I'll be the repairman. There is a large crowd of seismographers around here lately. They are searching for oil and gas. I suspect they'll find it, but they are leaving deep ruts in the process. I'm so glad that we put down extra fertilizer with the cheat and weed killers. The wheat will be ready to grow sooner than we think. Dreariness and weariness in December bring abundance in June. Or at least so they say.

Waiting on the feed truck

Looking pretty is #12. We slopped around in the mud a lot today. It was cold and didn't get above freezing until 1:00 P.M. The seismo guys got stuck in the little field by the house. They should have known better. We fixed the white pickup after it ran into the ditch and a the front tire came off the rim. Berto and Cole worked on the north lot fence by putting up new 2x6's. I think everyone including me took a spill on the ice today. Daddy was smiling all the way down til he hit the ground. He landed on his rear, but said it hurt his shoulder. I jumped up after I fell and tried to act like nothing happened. Terry Murphy brought more lick tubs. Those cows are sure eating that straw. It almost seems like we might get all that wheat straw fed up after all.

Melting Ice

Well the ice started melting today and we got lots of rain. The cows are bogging in the mud and hungry as ever. They are eating the straw bales like candy. The wheat is smiling with the falling of the rain. Separated 3 cows that had small calves from the main lot to the barn lot so they'll be toasty warm this evening. Tonight we're all tucked away roasting marshmallows and making s'mores.
